First Deputy Chairman of the Moscow Islamic Institute, Mufti Demir Mohieddinev during the meeting with Iran's Cultural Attaché in Moscow said Iranian culture and civilization are valuable for Russian Muslims.

Hawzah News AgencyAccording to the Public Relations Department of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO), Mufti Demir Mohieddinev, First Deputy Chairman of the Muslim Administration of the Russian Federation and Head of the Moscow Islamic Institute, met with Masoud Ahmadvand, in Moscow to discuss topics of mutual interests.

Demir Mohieddinev, in a speech, stating that Iranian culture and civilization is important and valuable for Russian Muslims in many ways, said Persian language is one of the main languages for Russian Muslims and before the Soviet era, all Muslim scholars of in addition to Arabic and Turkish, knew Persian language.

He added that Islam entered Russia through Transoxiana and Bukhara, which was a Persian-speaking region. Although the geographical distance was large, there was a strong connection between Khorasan and the Volga region. Archaeological excavations have uncovered coins of the Samanid state in this area.

He further referred to the plans of the Russian Muslim Administration for next year on the occasion of the 1100th anniversary of the adoption of Islam in the Volga region and said I hope that we, like the Iranian brothers, will properly protect our ancient heritage

Welcoming the expansion of cooperation with the Russian Muslim Administration and the Islamic Institute of Moscow, Ahmadvand, suggested that Muslim thinkers in different countries also get acquainted with some contemporary Iranian religious scholars.

Ahmadvand elaborated on the remarks by Mufti Demir Mohieddinev, regarding the role of Persian language among Russian Muslims, and announced readiness of Iran Cultural Mission to Moscow to reopen the Iran Room at the Islamic Institute of Moscow and teach Persian to students and send them to Iran to attend courses of Persian language.
